Project description:
Neurologic impairment is frequently observed in patients after cardiac arrest. The prognostication in these patients can be very difficult. Routine neurological examination is subjective and the results are influenced by the use of sedatives. In addition, therapeutic hypothermia is used as a neuroprotective treatment. This further decreases the prognostic value of the examination.
The aim of this project is to investigate whether it is possible to make a better prediction of the neurological outcome based on continuous EEG and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) measurements.
This project is a continuation of the graduation project of Fokke van Meulen and is part of the PhD project of Marleen Cloostermans.
