The focus of this assignment on the mental well-being of students and their experienced feelings of stress in daily life and stress related to their study. Mental well-being comprises emotional, psychological and social well-being, and can be measured with the Mental Health Continuum - Short Form (MHC-SF; Keyes et al., 2008). Based on the scores on the MHC-SF people can be categorized as having flourishing, moderate, or languishing mental well-being.
In this assignment a survey study will be performed on feelings of stress and mental well-being in students. The aim is to gain more insight into the relation of stress and mental well-being, and into other factors that are related to stress and mental well-being.
Also research questions related to possible moderators or mediators of the relations between stress and mental well-being can be studied.
Students can focus on research questions of their own interest in the context of the topic of this assignment.
Examples of possible research questions are:
Is resilience a moderator of the relationship between stress and mental well-being?
What is the role of personality factors in the experience of stress and mental well-being?
Is the intensity of the use of social media related to feelings of stress and mental well-being?
