Van der Chijs in Indonesia Visiting Indonesia at a turning point in history, is truly special. The new Indonesian cabinet, installed during our visit, wants to make important changes. The fact that UT alumna Siti Nurbaya Bakar (ITC) will be part of this process, is historic as well. Environment and Forestry, of which she will be the Minister, were major issues during our visits to Bandung and Jakarta.

Prof. Ed Brinksma: Strategic collaboration tour in Asia - spring 2014 We visited KAIST University in Deajeon, about 270 km from Seoul on June 2, 2014. This university was founded in 1971 and has excellent research and education programmes. KAIST ranks 56 in The Times Higher Education Supplement (THES). The core values of KAIST are advertised as ‘Challenge and Creativity’ which clearly resonates with the strategy vision of the UT for 2020 that is under development.
USTC in China; a perfect partner for joint education and research programmes On Wednesday, June 4th, we visited the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). USTC is the only Chinese university that operates under the umbrella of the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS). It is located in Hefei, a big city (8 million) located three hours west of Shanghai (by train).
