Drienerlo estate in the Second World War
In the context of 80 years of liberation, historian and journalist Jelle Posthuma will give a lecture about Drienerlo Estate during the Second World War. Jelle Posthuma is no stranger to the UT. He worked at U-Today, the university's independent news medium, until 2024. As a journalist, he made a four-part podcast about Gerrit Albertus Lasonder, a wealthy landowner from Enschede. He owned the Drienerlo estate, the place where the UT campus would later rise. In his life, Lasonder made one crucial decision: he joined the National Socialists in the Netherlands. Who was this Gerrit Lasonder, and what was his role during the Second World War?
