FIRST GENERATION FUND
Are you the first in your family, or even relatives, to go to university? Everything is often newer and more unknown than for those who follow in the footsteps of parents, brothers or sisters. The University is not only new for you, but also for your family. As a result, there is sometimes less understanding within the family circle for the activities that you as a student want to undertake in addition to your studies.
ACTIVITIES NEXT TO YOUR STUDY
It is precisely these activities, such as visiting conferences, going on study trips, joining activities of various associations or even being part of committees and boards of study associations or sports clubs, that are important for your (personal) development. If there are financial obstacles to participating in those types of activities, and you are a first-generation student, you can apply to this fund.
THE FIRST GENERATION FUND CAN HELP!
The First Generation Fund was founded by alumni and relations of the University of Twente to help students like you with financial support, so that you can hopefully still participate in activities that you consider important for your development! This concerns contributions of a maximum of 500 euros at a time.
WHO IS THIS FUND FOR?
For UT students or UT PhDs who are the first in their family to study at a university.
WHEN DO YOU BECOME ELIGIBLE FOR THE FUND?
- It must involve contributions to activities outside the regular curriculum (can be supplementary to curriculum, but can also be completely separate from curriculum)
- It must be about intellectual or social enrichment
- Grade lists or study progress are not decisive
- You may submit an application more than once
- We would like to receive a well-substantiated personal motivation (why do I want this and why is an appeal to the fund necessary) and a recommendation from a teacher or study advisor
