ASSIGNMENT
Enabling in-situ XRF measurements
Contact: Dr. Robbert van de Kruijs (r.w.e.vandekruijs@utwente.nl)
Challenge
- X-ray fluorescence-based measurements hold structural and chemical information about thin-film samples
- Possibility to measure during a chemical reaction (operando) or under the reaction conditions (in-situ) often reveals crucial information regarding the prosed inaccessible otherwise.
- X-ray fluorescence detector is a sensitive tool that can be damaged by harsh environment like pressure or high-temperature.
Application
- In-situ and operando measurements during chemical reaction, e.g. heterogeneous catalysis
Task
- Analyze the potential damage of XRF detecotr
- Design the possible solutions for protection of XRF detecotr (e.g. cooling, protective window, etc.)
Sensitive XRF detector - Design-focused , applied
