New article published: Microfluidics for Carbonate Rock IOR: Some Lessons From Fabrication, Operation and Image Analysis (Review Paper)

In the context of carbonate reservoir studies and applications, microfluidic devices are being developed to investigate a variety of phenomena (calcite dissolution/precipitation, ad/desorption, waterflooding, CO2 storage, etc.) and also with a wide range of objectives, ranging from “mapping trends” to “understanding fundamental physicochemical phenomena.” In this critical review paper by UT-PCF, UT-MCS and Aramco Research we share both the successes and the challenges encountered, hoping to contribute to a more efficient development of microfluidics as a complementary tool for research studies in petroleum engineering and geoscience disciplines.
