Wiendelt Steenbergen will serve as acting dean of the Faculty of Science & Technology (S&T). The appointment follows Dean Jennifer Herek's temporary absence, due to an unfortunate fall. The appointment is initially for a period of three months. After that, it should become clear whether a longer appointment is necessary, depending on Jennifer's recovery process.
Wiendelt Steenbergen is professor of Biomedical Photonic Imaging and has been part of the faculty board since 2017, as vice-dean of research.
In close consultation with the faculty board, the division of roles and tasks will be examined. The focus is on the progress of the faculty's reorganisation and other organisational developments. Activities in the field of external representation will temporarily have less of his attention. The Faculty Council has advised positively on this temporary solution.
The Executive Board wishes Jennifer strength in her recovery and wishes Wiendelt success in his new temporary role.
