Faculty Club S&T takes initiative for a clean and sustainable campus

On April 20, a special event was held on the campus of the university, organised by the Faculty Club S&T: the first Spring clean event.

On this day, S&T employees came together to clean up the campus and contribute to a cleaner environment.

Two shifts were organised and a delicious lunch was enjoyed on the waterfront terrace in front of the Vrijhof between the shifts. Thanks in part to CFM, which provided the necessary equipment such as dustbins and a scale to weigh the "catch of the day", a total of 10 bags of trash weighing 42 kilograms were collected.

Special findings

Notable was the number of unusual objects found during the clean-up, including a Christmas ornament, a used nappy, and even bullets?! Unfortunately, thousands of cigarette butts were found on our smoke-free campus, but we managed to collect several hundred butts. This event was seen as very valuable for community building, as S&T colleagues were able to meet in a different environment and work together towards a common goal.

Clean campus collective responsibility

By organising this event, the Faculty Club S&T hopes to encourage more UT employees and students to take collective responsibility for a clean campus. It was a great opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of sustainability and caring for our environment while getting to know each other and faculty colleagues in a different settings. We hope this event will be the first step in a larger movement to make our campus cleaner and more sustainable.
