CLEAR Kick-Off Symposium: Future-Proofing CSE for SustainabilityOn Friday, March 6, the CLEAR Kick-Off Symposium took place for CSE students and lecturers from the University of Twente. The symposium marked the start of the CLEAR project (Chemistry Learning for Environmental Action & Responsibility) and offered an inspiring afternoon full of collaboration and ideas centred around the question:Read more
Filtering photons for better quantum computersQuantum computers often require hundreds of components for a single reliable qubit, making scaling up complicated and expensive. UT PhD candidate Frank Somhorst has developed a method specifically for photonic quantum computers to reduce these costs. His method combines several imperfect photons into one photon with better properties. By a conservative estimate, this can reduce the number of photons required per logical qubit by a factor of four. He will be awarded a PhD by the University of Twente on 6 March.Read more
