Here you can find some information that might be useful for travelling to and from our campus.
- Public transport
An easy way to plan your trip using public transport is via
- https://www.ns.nl, best for train-mostly travel.
- https://9292.nl/en/planner/, best for full public transport routing.
Note that you can pay your bus or train fare in the Netherlands contactless using, e.g., a bank card through the OVpay system, or for trains by buying a single-use chip card via terminals located in many stations (at Schiphol, for example), as well as at the service desk within Schiphol. More information on purchasing one-way train tickets can be found here on the NS website. The contactless payment method allows you to check in and out of public transport with a debit card, credit card, or your mobile phone; you can check in and out by tapping your card (or ticket) on the reader at the entrance AND exit of the bus or train station. If using a printed single-use ticket, make sure to keep it for entering/exiting any gates within the train system until you arrive at your final destination.
NOTE: do not forget to check out at the end of your trip.
- Schiphol to Campus
Travelling from Schiphol Airport to the University of Twente by train will take about 2.5 - 3 hr.
Plan you trip via www.ns.nl or www.OV9292.nl
Departure is always Schiphol Airport; trains depart from the train station at the airport itself.
There are a few convenient options for getting to the campus, some suggestions
- take the train to Enschede Kennispark (near the FC Twente stadium), walk the last 10-15 minutes
- take the train to Hengelo Central Station, then taking bus line 9 to stop "de Broeierd", and walk the last 5-10 minutes
You will find the log cabins (blokhutten) at #63 on the digital campus map.
Please note that depending on your chosen route/train availability you may need to change from an NS train (yellow) to a Blauwnet train (Blauw and white), here's how to handle the transfer:
1. Check out with NS: When transferring from an NS train to a Blauwnet train, you'll need to check out at the NS point on the platform.
2. Check in with Blauwnet: Then, you'll need to check in at the Blauwnet terminal, likely next to the NS Point.
3. Do not pass through the gates: You should not pass through the access gates until you have checked out of the previous carrier and checked into the next one.
