EduTalks #5: The Future of Education Interviewing Nelly Litvak (EEMCS) about the future of our education

WE’VE SURVIVED A PANDEMIC, EXPERIMENTED WITH ALL SORTS OF EDUCATIONAL INNOVATIONS, BUT WHAT’S NEXT? AND JUST AS IMPORTANT: HOW DO WE DO IT TOGETHER? TOGETHER WITH NELLY LITVAK, THE TEACHER OF THE YEAR 2022, WE TAKE A LOOK AT THE FUTURE AND DISCUSS THE WAYS OF TEACHING AND WORKING FOR OUR CHANGING SOCIETY.

Nelly Litvak works within the faculty of EEMCS as a professor of algorithms for complex networks. After noticing a decline in attendance of her traditional lectures, she shook up her educational style to include alternative means such as microlecturing, e-learning and more - long before the pandemic happened. This investment has long paid off for her in terms of content, all on the basis of empathy and connection.

Her involvement in educational innovation and inspiration won her the Teacher of the Year Award in 2022. Now, we look to the future with developments happening and yet to come: what will happen and how can we make it work? In this podcast, we discuss the experiment of teaching teams, where co-creation of courses is facilitated between lecturers, educational consultants, and e-learning specialists. We also discuss the book “Empathic Entrepreneurial Engineering” by David Fernandez Rivas, a colleague in the faculty of TNW.
