I investigate how women flourish in life using quantitative (intervention) studies and qualitative designs. A longitudinal cohort study is currently being developed to measure meaning in life, wellbeing and flourishing of women throughout the lifespan. Expectations and mindsets about transitional phases such as motherhood, breastfeeding and menopause are also narratively examined.

The core aim of my research is to understand flourishing, the fluctuations of flourishing and why some people flourish while others do not. What does flourishing mean by laypersons and how can flourishing be effectively promoted throughout the lifespan? I am particularly interested in transitions throughout the lifespan, for example when women become mother for the first time, or how women flourish through the menopausal transition. I want to know how expectations and mindsets impact transitional phases, whether expectations and mindsets can be effectively changed (and how), and which wellbeing interventions are beneficial for whom and when (during a transitional phase).
