SYMPOSIUM: REVIEW OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF ELECTROCARDIOGRAPHY
The TechMed Centre and the Historical Study Collection of EEMCS will organize a joint mini-symposium on the occasion of the centenary of the Nobel Prize for Medicine for Prof. Dr. Willem Einthoven and the 45th anniversary of the Historical Study Collection.
The highlight of the mini-symposium is the unveiling of the display case with the historic electrocardiograph from around 1930, based on the invention of Prof. Dr. Einthoven by Mrs. Dr. Heleen Miedema, founder of the Technical Medicine program at the University of Twente.
This mini-symposium will take place on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 3:00 - 5:30 PM in the Auditorium and Atrium of the Technical Medical Centre, located in the Technohal.
PROGRAM OF THE MINI-SYMPOSIUM
- 3:00 - 3:15 PM: reception with coffee/tea
- 3:15 - 3:25 PM: word of welcome by Remke Burie, managing director of the TechMedical Centre
- 3:25 - 3:50 PM: lecture "The measuring ingenuity of Einthoven" by prof.dr.ir. Paul Regtien
- 3:50 - 4:05 PM: break
- 4:05 - 4:30 PM: lecture "ECG innovations over the years" by prof.dr.ir. Piet Bergveld
- 4:30 - 4:45 PM: unveiling of the Boulitte electrocardiograph in the Atrium with a short speech by Mrs. Dr. Heleen Miedema
- 4:45 - 5:30 PM: drinks
The working language during the mini-symposium will be Dutch.
