Katja Haijkens Interim Programme Director Technical Medicine

EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 1, 2024, KATJA HAIJKENS WILL BE APPOINTED INTERIM PROGRAMme DIRECTOR OF TECHNICAL MEDICINE. SHE WILL FILL THIS POSITION IN ADDITION TO HER POSITIONS AS PROGRAMme DIRECTOR OF BIOMEDICAL TECHNOLOGY AND DIRECTOR OF education with TECHMED. THE INTERIM POSITION IS FOR A MAXIMUM OF 2 YEARS.

We would like to express our thanks to Jasper Homminga who, after the departure of Heleen Miedema, took over the role of programme director with great commitment and dedication. Jasper dedicated himself to the maximum for the interest of the students, staff and the overall organisation of the programme, laying a solid foundation for the future. We are grateful for his efforts and respect his decision to step back and pursue other ambitions.

INTERIM PERIOD

As a faculty board, in close consultation with the TechMed management team, we have chosen to fill the vacancy temporarily. This choice has been prompted by several recent developments and challenges for the UT as a whole, in which we strive for peace and stability within the educational organisation. In addition, it is our ambition during this interim period to develop a clear vision of the profile of the future programme director Technical Medicine, within the frameworks proposed by the UT, but also considering what is required from the Technical Medicine domain. The interim period has been set at a maximum of 2 years, after which we will proceed to the regular filling of the position. Recruitment for this will start no later than summer 2025.

Katja will officially take over from Jasper as of February 1, 2024. With her managerial experience and vision, combined with her enthusiasm for this new challenge, we are convinced that together we jointly shape the Technical Medicine programme for the future. Katja will combine the position with that of programme director of Biomedical Engineering and director of education within the management team of TechMed. We have confidence in Katja's leadership skills and wish her every success in this new challenge!
