Happy Eating Event - CANCELLED

THIS EVENT IS CANCELLED CONFORM THE HEALTH GUIDELINES FROM THE DUTCH GOVERNMENT

The organization (University of Twente - TechMed Centre's programme: Personalized e-health Technology & EFRO Food and Cognition project) considers this decision inevitable as the risk of bringing  a group of healthcare professionals together cannot be accurately assessed at this time.

As many atteendees of the Happy eating event are employed in healthcare, the organization is very much aware of its responsibility in this respect and wants to exclude any risk whatsoever. The risk is too big that any contamination will lead to absenteeism of healthcare professionals and overburdened local healthcare systems at a time that they are critically needed.

As registered attendee you may have questions about the cancellation. Please contact us techmed-events@utwente.nl

the event

happy eating event

On 24 March 2020, the University of Twente is organizing an inspiring afternoon that brings all kinds of organizations interested in the eating experience and technology together on behalf of the EFRO Food & Cognition network project. This afternoon you can get acquainted with Happy Eating, which enriches the eating experience. To make people eat healthier it is important that we first make it more fun, attractive and social. On this day you will also experience what Happy Eating can do and what role interactive technology has in it.

For whom

This event is organized to inspire providers of eating experience (caterers, supermarkets, caterers care institutions), technological companies and knowledge and research institutions in the Eastern Netherlands to jointly change the eating experience through technology so that people can eat healthier in a fun way. To achieve this, we bring these stakeholders together to get to know each other more closely, to exchange ideas and to inspire each other.

13.20 - 13.40: Introducing the EFRO Food & Cognition project
by Dr. Esther Aarts - EFRO Food & Cognition project

Bad eating habits are risk factors for major chronic diseases like cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, presenting a threat to human health worldwide. Our food choices, in turn, do not only affect general health, but also brain health more specifically. With population ageing, preventing cognitive decline is becoming more challenging and costs associated with neurodegenerative diseases like dementia are increasing dramatically. Healthy nutrition earlier in life is of utmost importance in the prevention of brain diseases later in life. However, breaking bad habits for behavioral change is not easy in our current obesogenic and unequal society.
