Climate Café Strenghtening the UT Climate Action community

Climate Café

Four times per year the Climate Centre organizes the Climate Café: an informal event where you can meet and be inspired by people who are passionate about education and research that supports climate action. Researchers and students share their work to fight climate change and we will inform you about the latest developments and future plans for the Climate Centre itself. Of course, there will be room for your questions, your ideas and comments, and time to connect with your fellow researchers at UT.

This edition: Strengthening the UT climate (action) community

Strengthening the UT climate (action) community

The UT Climate Centre and the Green Hub are inviting the UT community, including the Faculty Green Hubs, the Planetary Health initiative, the Center for Energy Innovation, the Solar Centre, the Drought Resilience programme, the Centre for Disaster Resilience, climate-related educational programmes, the SEE programme, Scientists4Future Twente, Students4Future Enschede, the Vegan student association, the Sustain student association, University Rebellion, Scientist Rebellion, and all related initiatives and individuals at the UT to this edition of the UT Climate Café.

  • Part 1: Sketching and discussing a 'Who does what?' inventory (of the UT 'ecosystem') of climate-related initiatives – a 'map' of the UT climate community. Such a 'map' may be useful for the UT climate community (e.g. who could we collaborate with?), for the UT management (e.g. awareness of the different initiatives and their roles), and for the UT Climate Centre (e.g. how could we better support the UT climate community?).
  • Part 2: Open discussion:  Where can we join forces to lobby for shared causes at UT?  Possible examples: Can we work towards a UT-wide climate-related course or program ? How can we create support for a flight reduction target at UT? How can we prove demand for plant-based food on campus? We will identify and discuss such concrete topics in breakout groups together with people from other initiatives at the UT. As desired concrete outcomes of this part of the meeting, we hope to end with concrete agreements for forms of coordination / collaboration / support between our different initiatives, and for concrete joint actions

Please note: We will provide some fruit, but no sandwiches. Please bring your own lunch!

We are looking forward to your participation!
