With your UnionCard or CampusCard, you get access to a wide range of sports facilities
Whether you’re up for a game of tennis, a beach volleyball match, a run on the athletics track, or want to make use of an indoor hall for your own activity — the choice is yours! Check out the options below to find the perfect space for your sport.
- Free use of a sports hall or field
Rules for Using Sports Facilities Without a Reservation
A reservation is not necessary for free sports. If you want to make use of a hall or sports field, bring your UnionCard or CampusCard to our Servicedesk.
You can check the availability of our accommodationavailability- Always contact the service desk to request use of a facility.
- All participants must have a UnionCard or CampusCard.
- Free use is only allowed if the facility is not reserved.
- Permission grants up to 1 hour of use.
- Continuing beyond 1 hour requires approval from the service desk.
- A minimum of 2 participants is required in one sports hall.
- The main reserver must hand in their card at the service desk.
- The access gate will be opened by the service desk for the main reserver.
- Not all facilities are suitable for every sport — ask the service desk for advice.
- The service desk employee has the final authority on access permission.
- Events such as workshops or competitions are not allowed during free sports times.
- All sports equipment must be returned to its proper place after use.
- Lighting (indoor and outdoor) is controlled by the service desk.
- Emergency exits may only be used in emergencies.
- Beach accommodation
Beach Accommodation
Our beach accommodation is open for use April 1st to October 1st. You can check the availability by viewing our free/busy schedule — click here for the schedule.
Students and staff with a valid UnionCard or CampusCard are welcome to use the beach facilities. To get access, please report to the Sports Centre servicedesk. There, you will receive the key and can also borrow a ball by handing in your student or staff card.
- Tennis
With your UnionCard and CampusCard, you can use the 6 smash court tennis courts.
To use the tennis courts, please follow these guidelines:
- Reservation required: You must book a court in advance via Sports and Culture UTwente or the Sports and Culture UTwente app.
- Access: UnionCard and CampusCard holders can enter by scanning their card at the gate or using the QR code in the app.
- Booking rules: One user makes a reservation and can invite up to three other participants, all of whom must also hold a UnionCard or CampusCard.
- Reservation validity: The reservation is active from 5 minutes before the start time. During the reserved period, access is available via the scanner or QR code.

Would you like to borrow a racket? You can borrow this at the service desk in the sports center when you leave your student card (1 racket per person).
You can purchase your tube of tennis balls at the service desk of the sports centre. - U-track (athletics track)
If you want to go for a run on the U-Track, please be sure to bring your UnionCard/CampusCard when using the U-Track.
- Swimming
The University of Twente has both an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool.
