Academic Freedom Dialogue Panel discussion

Academic freedom is under threat. In the US, government increasingly interferes with scientific programmes, and universities are faced with lawsuits to force them in certain directions. Are these developments affecting the Dutch academic climate, too? In the Netherlands, the government's austerity measures have resulted in budget cuts at UT, and the public trust in scientific integrity is at an all-time low. What does academic freedom mean, and what can we do to defend it?

Panel discussion with: prof. dr. Tom Veldkamp (rector magnificus), dr. Sage Cammers-Goodwin (BMS), prof. dr. ir. Stefano Stramigioli (EEMCS) and dr. Julia Hermann (BMS).

Moderators: Martin ter Denge MA (U-Today) and ir. Peter Timmerman (Studium Generale).

The dialogue is open to everyone at UT without registration. With free drinks afterwards in foyer!

In cooperation with U-Today, Young Academy@UT, Strategy & Policy.
