Introducing Your New P-NUT Elected Board! of the year 2024

On 8th March, a new board was elected during the GMM annual meeting. We're thrilled to announce the freshly elected P-NUT board members to all of you.

Get ready to meet the faces behind the roles, each bringing a unique blend of passion, expertise, and dedication to our shared mission.

🌟 [Mira El Akkawi]: President

Hey there,

I'm Mira, coming from the lovely city of Beirut, Lebanon, currently rocking my 2nd year of PhD. After landing in Enschede, I jumped into the P-NUT crew just a month later, and six months down the line, I became part of the board. Just like P-NUT helped me dive into the PhD scene, I aimed to make sure newcomers felt the same warmth. We threw together socials and sports events to keep PhD spirits high. Plus, I handled P-NUT’s internal and external affairs, pushing for better PhD representation across faculties and within them.

Now, I couldn’t be more thrilled to serve as the president of the P-NUT board for the upcoming year ! Teaming up with fellow board members has been an absolute joy and I am looking forward to another year of working together towards our shared goals.

🌟 [Muriel Holzreuter]: Vice President

Hi everyone! I'm Muriel, a second-year PhD candidate from Switzerland and an enthusiastic member of the P-NUT board for the last year. It has been a great experience that has brought me new friends, learning opportunities, and some much needed distraction from my regular work. In the last year, I was overseeing the P-NUT website and social media as the PR chair. Now, I'm excited to continue making a positive impact with P-NUT as vice-president, and to learn more about the inner workings of the UT.

I'm confident that, alongside the rest of the elected board, I can contribute greatly to the well-being and strength of the P-NUT community. Excited for the journey ahead!

🌟 [Mario Boot]: Secretary

Yay, on to another board year! My name is Mario, in my 4th year, born and raised in NL. Privately, I love traveling, volunteering, being outdoors, DIY projects, and many kinds of stuff like psytrance and the 7th generation principle. I'm not sure if I would have continued my PhD without the friends I made via P-Nut. I am looking forward to keep having a joyful time, together with the other amazing and more-than-capable board members. I'll work on seamless administration and organization. That may seem boring but to me it's satisfying to do something that is crucial to keep the community alive - and to charge your fees ;) Also there's some improvement to do, like saying goodbye to unsustainable ING, ensuring privacy for your data, and getting rid of our outdated approach for membership management. Hope to see you soon on some of our great events like a spring time cycling tour, or a tasting in a winery in Twente (yes, they exist!).

🌟 [Janike Bolter]: Treasurer

Hey there! I'm Janike, a second-year PhD candidate from Germany, but you might know me better as Kiki on WhatsApp, where I spam you with info about our events as co-Leader of the events team. A year ago, I joined P-NUT and its board because I'm passionate about our community and wanted to play an active role in shaping its future. It's been an eye-opening experience, helping me understand how our university operates and where there's room for improvement, which is why I'm excited to be the treasurer of the P-NUT board 2024.

Let's work together to make a real difference!

Warm regards,

Your P-NUT Elected Board Team
