On Monday 2 September 2024 the University of Twente celebrated the opening of the academic year in the Wilmink theatre, in the heart of the city centre of Enschede.
This year's theme was ‘Hope’, and we elaborated on the importance of chip technology. Next to keynote speaker Jos Benschop, Executive Vice President of Technology at ASML, scientists and student shared their inspirational stories.
There were also prizes awarded during the OAY: the Van den Kroonenberg Award for an entrepreneur and graduation awards for UT students with an impressive thesis. The Van den Kroonenberg Award for young entrepreneurship went to UT alumnus Siete Hamminga. Five very talented and recently graduated UT students – one per faculty – received a Graduation Award, worth 1000 euros.
