If getting together in-person isn’t possible, let’s meet virtually!
On Thursday 28 May 8.00 PM (PDT) you are invited to join alumni from your city as well as other parts of West USA and Canada** for a special online event and borrel for our local DEAN* communities on Zoom. To join please register via this online form.
The interactive evening programme includes brief updates from the universities, followed with a short talk by UT alumnus Björn Harink (Biomedical Engineering). Björn describes himself as a scientist, engineer, entrepreneur, globetrotter, and human of earth. It’s not by chance that he uses a planet as a point of reference since as the Principal Scientist at San Francisco based Leiden Measurement Technologies, Björn helps develop instruments used by NASA to detect life in extraterrestrial environments like Europa and Mars.
Per tradition, our gathering concludes with a virtual borrel (BYOB) where you and fellow alumni living in LA, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver and other cities in the West will be mixed with each other to maximize interactions and stimulate conversations! Make sure to also bring some snacks and drinks for the borrel!
Why are your Alumni Offices organizing this online event?
Alumni networks such as DEAN can be extremely useful resources for tapping into fellow alumni during crisis periods for advice, contacts and support particularly. The new online event format has been developed to enhance local connections between alumni and is an addition to existing channels like the LinkedIn Group DEAN USA and LinkedIn Group DEAN Canada, and just recently created city based WhatsApp Groups.
What can you expect?
This event follows other successful virtual events hosted over the past 8 weeks for alumni in the Nordics, Spain, France, Germany & East Coast USA/Canada. Here are some comments from alumni who have joined:
“I thoroughly enjoyed participating, getting to meet others in my area, and meeting everyone else from across the eastern-half of North America and NL! It was a great escape from current times with stay-at-home orders, and not being able to travel. I look forward to participating again in the future”
"Thanks very much. It was a very good experience to be able to link up with a group of people with the same background, same interest in France. Hope we will have more often such an opportunity! The event was well organised, dynamic and participative."
"Great job! Unbelievable attention to detail made it better, including the idea/risk-taking of the borrels, the group facilitation, and the comprehensive follow-ups including survey, attendee list and especially WhatsApp local groups. Congrats to all who organized it!"
To join this event register via this online form. Note that we have a maximum capacity of 100 participants for this activity – if necessary a waiting list will be created. All registrations are taken care of by TU Delft Alumni Relations.
Please also complete the form if you are unable to participate but would still like to be added to a local alumni WhatsAppp group in your city.
