Taste of Teaching (ToT)

Taste of Teaching is a professional development course designed primarily for PhD candidates at the University of Twente.

It offers an engaging, practice-oriented introduction to core educational skills: from lesson design and active teaching to group facilitation and student supervision. Whether you are completely new to teaching or already have experience as a student assistant, tutor, or from a didactic minor, this course helps you reflect, practise, and grow your abilities in a supportive environment.

Programme Overview

The course follows a blended format, with preparation on Canvas (readings, videos, and assignments) followed by four in-person sessions. During these sessions, participants practise teaching, explore supervision strategies, and reflect on their own interests and approach to education.

The course encourages peer feedback and personal learning. Optional materials on Canvas offer additional depth for those who want to explore further.

  • Teaching
