Compared to surrounding countries, the Dutch academic year is intensive and long, according to a study by the Young Academy, among others. This leads to a high workload for students, teachers and support staff. How can we create more rest and space without reducing the quality of our education?
The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) has established a national pilot with 15 universities and one university of applied sciences to research the design of the academic year.
In this session during UT's Week of Education, the pilots from the University of Groningen will be presented after which the participants will be able to exchange views. The project leaders of the UT pilots will also be present to discuss what inspiration we can take from the Groningen examples and other pilots in the country.
