Lifelong Learning Café

Drop in to the Lifelong Learning Café to network with those involved or interested in lifelong learning! This informal gathering encourages the exchange of best practices and ideas without formal presentations. Instead, it features discussion tables where colleagues share their experiences and engage in short discussions on lifelong learning topics. Updates from the lifelong learning programme team are shared, with a focus on networking and knowledge sharing across faculties and services.

The theme of this cafe is: Creating powerful LLL learning environments. Three table hosts will exchange their knowledge and experience with you:

  • Table 1: Using Serious Games in LLL –> Guido Bruinsma (BMS)
  • Table 2: Challenge Based Learning Communities for professionals –> Maaike Endedijk (BMS)
  • Table 3: Simulation education for powerful feedback –> Marleen Groenier /Erik Maartens (TechMed Academy)

Description

Education for professionals comes in many forms. However, both academic research and participant evaluations consistently show that learning has a greater impact when professionals actively engage with the material in ways that connect directly to their own work practice—rather than in a traditional, classroom-based setting.

But what design choices make this possible? And how do we create an inspiring, and realistic learning environment that truly challenges professionals to engage in active and meaningful learning?

In this café session, we will explore three educational formats that are particularly well-suited to lifelong learning (LLL) goals and audiences. Our expert table hosts will share their insights and experiences with these approaches and warmly invite you to join the conversation, ask questions, and exchange ideas.
