Assignment
Assignments can be handed in through Canvas. Feedback on assignments can be given with the help of Speedgrader. Plagiarism detection can be applied to the documents that students submit to Canvas. If you want to use an assignment as an alternative for a regular written exam, the following settings are relevant:
- Set an availability start and date. Students then can only see and submit the assignment between the availability start and end date.
- In case some students are allowed extra time for the assignment: you can set different start and end dates for different students in one assignment, if you use the ‘Assign to’ option in the assignment. For example, you can make the assignment available for three specific students on April 14 between 9:00 - 12:00, and set the availability time to 9:00 - 11:00 for everyone else. - Create different assignments and assign each assignment to a different selection of students, to reduce the risk of collaboration between students during the exam.
Do you want to hide grades for students until you have finished grading all students?
By default, assignment scores will be visible for students as soon as they are entered in the gradebook/Speedgrader. If you want to hide the assignment scores for students, you have to set the grade posting policy to 'Manually', and post the grades yourself at the moment you want the grades to be visible for students.
