Project Description:

In the Netherlands, the Energy Transition involves the renovation of nearly 1.5 million buildings and reconnecting 7mio houses to fossil-free energy infrastructure before 2050. High ambitions exist to renovate and reconnect 200,000 buildings annually, but the conventional case-by-case handling of projects fails. The industry pushes to rethink how lengthy design and scaling problems can be overcome through standardisation and better stakeholder coordination. The implementation of renovation flows and clustering approaches is plagued by four main problems related to data, context-aware and collective optimisation in mass-scale design, renovation operations coordination, and the misalignment between technology and practice. In addition, renovation flows and clustering approaches scale from individual projects to mass-scale programmes and thus include many more stakeholders. PREMADONA addresses these challenges by developing a data-driven digital ecosystem for the design and execution of collectively optimal mass-scale renovation flows. As a partner in the PREMADONA project, we focus on developing a multi-layered governance framework that enables ambidexterity in the digital transformation of renovation processes and guides the implementation and scaling up of the envisioned digital ecosystem of PRE-MADONA in a socio-politically sustainable and inclusive manner.
