Development of Digital Twin Usage Scenarios for Modular Construction

Researcher: Irfan Pottachola
Project Duration: November 2021 – October 2023
Project Partner: Ballest Nedam, Emergo Business Partners, Strukton, and TBI

Project Description:

The overarching goal of the project partners is to develop concepts and tools capable of making significant strides towards the adoption of Digital Twins in Modular Construction. Following this need and the identified knowledge gaps, the objective of this design project is to investigate potential Digital Twin applications for modular construction projects and to develop associated Information System (IS) architectures in the context of the project partner companies.

The different DT applications to be investigated need to be characterised by (1) feasibility (of implementation and adoption), and (2) relevance (emission reduction potential, potential value to partners). The applications will be explored corresponding to various key activities across the modular construction project lifecycle. Such prospective DT applications corresponding to key activities of modular construction project is termed as ‘DT Uses’. A DT Uses framework will be developed at the end which will be a compilation of all the important DT applications corresponding to key activities.
