Researcher from UT wins the PhD prize for industrial research from European Scientific Association for Material Forming

Dr. Jenny Venema wins the PhD prize for industrial research from European Scientific Association for Material Forming (ESAFORM).  The winner of this year was announced during the 23rd International Conference on Material Forming (ESAFORM 2020). ESAFORM 2020 is organized virtually for the first time from 4 to 8 May.

Dr. Venema did her PhD research at Tata Steel (Ijmuiden) and University of Twente. She received her PhD from Nonlinear Solid Mechanics group in September 2019. Her research was focused on understanding friction and wear mechanisms in hot stamping and developing a multi-scale friction model for hot stamping processes. The title of her PhD thesis is: Tribological interactions and modelling of friction in hot stamping

The ESAFORM PhD Prize for Industrial Research is awarded annually. This prize intends to distinguish a PhD researcher, who has brought an outstanding contribution in the field of industrial material forming. Based on a sound scientific fundament, the work should demonstrate a clear industrial relevance supported by actual application of the work.
