Course content
Deger Ozkaramanli has been involved in co-teaching the Multidisciplinary Design Project for the Bachelor Honors Design Track in collaboration with Dr. Nolen Gertz from the Philosophy Department. In this course, the students worked on a societal challenge of their own choice. In the first half of the course, they formulated their own design brief through applying several cycles of problem framing and reframing to identify a relevant and inspiring design challenge. In the second half, they collaboratively generated ideas for new products and / or services to address the challenge they had identified. To support their design process, students received lectures on design theory, design methods, and ethics of technology. The combination of theories and principles from design research and ethics of technology was intended to fuel creativity combined with ability to think critically.
