Device optimization using machine learning with hybrid heat pumps

Title: Device optimization using machine learning with hybrid heat pumps
Student: Gino van Spil
Supervisors: Gerwin Hoogsteen
Programme: Embedded Systems

In this assignment the flexibility options of the hybrid heat pump are investigated. A hybrid heat pump is a system that consists of an electric heat pump together with a conventional gas boiler. This means that there is the choice to heat with either electricity or natural gas. It will be investigated how the flexibility of two different energy supplies can be used. Research will be done on how machine learning can be used to learn different characteristics of the system. The goal is to expose the flexibility of the system using protocols developed by TNO.
