Management framework (JAMF Pro) mandatory for macOS devices
Starting March 31, 2025, we’ll begin reaching out to all macOS users to schedule an in-person appointment to enroll their devices into our Managed Enterprise environment. This step ensures that all MacBooks, Mac Minis, and iMacs meet the University of Twente’s security standards - keeping your device safe and up to date!
Why is this important?
Enrolling your device means:
- Automatic security updates & disk encryption
- Access to essential software & tools
- A smoother and safer experience overall
Perks of enrolment!
Besides a safer workplace, JAMF Pro offers great benefits:
- Easy login with your UT credentials
- Pre-installed software – Choose from:
- Required (mandatory apps)
- Recommended (required + Office)
- Complete (recommended + Adobe & Chrome)
- Self-service app – Install extra apps like VLC player, Firefox, and more.
Need something else? You can still download apps from official sources!
Heads-up!
Regrettably, certain situations are unavoidable, we kindly ask you to take note of the following points:
- Backup your data – Your device will be reinstalled, so save your files on OneDrive for Business or SurfDrive. Do not use Migration Assistant - this feature is restricted. When making a backup, also consider your KeyChain information, browser bookmarks, and data from applications such as Notes and other local software.
- Apple Account – Make sure you can log in with your Apple Account. If you don't have access to your account please visit http://iforgot.apple.com or contact Apple Support.
- Time required – The enrolment process takes 1 to 2 hours, so plan accordingly.
Enrollment is mandatory!
Leaving devices unmanaged poses risks for the University, employees, and students! We cannot guarantee security, disk encryption, or updates without management.
Planning!
The enrolment will occur in three phases, each lasting two months per group. When you receive an invitation to make an appointment, please keep this invitation link private and refrain from sharing it with others, this way we can ensure everything runs smoothly. Thanks for understanding!
