Lodewijk Asscher, the driving force behind the CVD, emphasises the increasing importance of digital security in today's world. The CVD addresses key questions related to digitisation and security, covering four main areas: education, lifelong learning, entrepreneurship, and research. With a national impact, the CVD has created a knowledge environment that promotes advancements in the field.

In this presentation, we will start by touching on a few points of the story of SecurityMatters (UT spin-off created by the speaker together with Damiano Bolzoni and Emmanuele Zambon); then we will elaborate on the importance of empirical research in cybersecurity and we will introduce the Eindhoven Security Hub, a public-private partnership that we set up at the TU/e for the purpose of both securing the region and boosting cybersecurity research.
