RESULT
This training course is designed to empower participants to operate effectively in diverse cultural contexts and/or multicultural teams, including international industrial, governmental, or academic environments.
Upon completion of this course, participants will:
- Develop an in-depth awareness of the complexities of culture and intercultural communication.
- Understand how their own cultural background and personal characteristics influence communication.
- Identify and explain how cultural misinterpretations can arise, fostering intercultural sensitivity.
- Adapt and vary their communication styles to suit different cultural contexts, enhancing intercultural communication.
- Gain deeper insights into their cross-cultural strengths, potential challenges, and strategies to improve intercultural competence in international work settings.
CONTENT
This intensive program spans 5 weeks and combines theoretical knowledge with practical application. The course includes:
- Two full training days.
- Preparatory homework assignments.
- A personalised intercultural profile using the Intercultural Readiness Check©.
Participants will also engage with the booklet Intercultural Sensitivity by Núñez et al., which will be provided as part of the course materials.
The training sessions incorporate a blend of interactive methods, including:
- Small group discussions.
- Role-plays.
- Case studies.
- Practical exercises.
- Guided reflection.
These sessions serve as a 'learning environment’ for practising new skills and behaviours, encouraging participants to step outside their comfort zones.
Duration and Time investment
The course runs from 9:15 AM to 4:30 PM and is equivalent to approximately 1 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System).
