After completing this course you are able:


During the course we will pay attention to the following topics: planning of a graduation project, supervising groups, first meeting with the student(s), role and style of supervisor, expectations of supervisor and student, active listening, giving feedback, assessment and motivation.

 Of course we also pay attention to your specific questions.


Preparation: exercises and assignments, reading course material
In course: assignments (both individual and group), discussions and role play


The University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) is a compulsory teaching qualification for lecturers, assistant, associate and full professors. PhD students cannot enrol directly on a UTQ course. PhD students will only be accepted for the UTQ in exceptional cases where the PhD student already has considerable teaching experience. In order to be eligible for the UTQ Part Certificate a prerequisite is that you supervise(d) at least 4 (groups of) students. Furthermore you need to participate in all of the sessions hand in the assignments which will be assessed.
