Result
In this advanced course, participants will extend their knowledge of Dutch, going from CEF-level B1/B2 to B2.
Content
In order to prepare for the B2 exam, you will use chapters 4, 5 and 6 from the book Nederlands op Niveau to improve your language proficiency. The course consists of two lessons per week: a preparation lesson and a practice lesson. In the preparation lesson, you will work both independently and together with your fellow students on reading skills, vocabulary, grammar and writing skills, with the aid of a study guide and under the guidance of a student-assistant. Additionally, you will do writing assignments on which you will receive feedback from the teacher.
During the practice lessons, you will work on your oral language skills under the guidance of your teacher. You can also ask your teacher questions about the self-study programme from the preparation lessons and about language issues that you encounter in every-day life.
You will be evaluated based on a portfolio, which you have to complete by the end of the course. The portfolio consists of listening and reading tests, writing assignments, a practical speaking exercise outside of class and a spoken exam in the final lesson. If the result is satisfactory, you will be able to enrol in the B2/C1 course or register for the State Examination NT2, programme II.
Duration and TIme investment
Attendance at every lesson is essential. The course consists of 20 lessons of two hours each, with two sessions every week: one preparation lesson and one practice lesson.
Please take into account the fact that the course will involve approx. 6 hours of work per week: 2 hours of homework, 2 hours in the preparation lesson, and 2 hours in the practice lesson. Homework is best divided into four times half an hour, which works better than doing everything in one go.
Admission criteria
Admission is granted based on certificates obtained from earlier language courses, in this case, Dutch B1/B2, or an intake exam, which you can register for here.
