Participants have to submit their CV in PDF format, two weeks prior to the course start, to


Interested research and support staff who will submit a research proposal for funding within the next 12 months, for example for Marie Curie Individual Grants or for the NWO Talent Scheme VENI or Rubicon. The training is directed at PhD-candidates. Experience in applying for funding is not required.


Thorough understanding of the basic principles for writing (international) competitive individual proposals.


The context of your proposal: your research idea for a VENI application or training need for Marie Curie;

  • policy of the funding agency;
  • formulating objectives which fit the ambitions of the funding organisation;
  • methodologically describing scientific approach as well as demonstration of feasibility;
  • administrative backgrounds and support from the University of Twente.

As a follow up to this general training, we organise several specialized training sessions, aiming at particular instruments (like ERC or VIDI).


Half a day course. The study load for this course is roughly equivalent to 0,5 ECTS.
