Our PhD/EngD counsellors are trained professionals with expertise in coaching, career advice, and providing confidential guidance. Our PhD/EngD counselling service is available to all PhDs and EngDs at UT, including external PhDs and those with scholarships. All appointments are entirely free of charge. PhD/EngD counsellors can assist you with a wide range of topics, including:
- Boosting productivity
- Finding and maintaining motivation
- Addressing cultural differences
- Balancing personal life with the demands of your workload
- Enhancing self-confidence
- Offering advice on workplace communication and relationships, including interactions with your supervisor
- Defining and achieving career objectives
Our services are entirely independent of your faculty, TGS, or HR department. It is important to note that our PhD/EngD counsellors do not replace the existing support resources available at the University of Twente. Instead, we work in collaboration with other services such as the Twente Graduate School, HR, HR Development, Occupational Health Services, Confidential Advisors, Ombuds Officer, and General Practitioners. If necessary, we can refer you to these resources for specialised assistance. Additionally, we maintain a partnership with the PhD Network of the University of Twente (P-NUT) and can connect you with student psychologists at SACC for psychological well-being support.
