Cybersecurity training - Issue no 6 | 2024

In March all UT employees have been invited to complete the online cybersecurity training. The first report puts CES with 26% completed trainings above the UT-average (19%), but in the middle of the service departments. Great that so many of you have already done this!

This training is important. I am sure nobody wants to risk the cyber safety of the UT. Just think back to the University of Maastricht which in 2019 was hacked, after which ransom software corrupted their key systems. For six weeks the university had to close down as mailboxes, systems and data were no longer accessible. It was solved in the end, and the hackers were arrested as well, but just imagine the UT not being able to operate for six weeks, and then trying to have to sort out the effects of that for months afterwards.

Obviously, this percentage needs to go up to 100%, so please try to fit the training into your, doubtlessly, busy work schedules. The training consists of modules that can take from 5-30 minutes, so you don’t have to do the whole thing in one go. It is possible that some of the material is familiar to you already, hopefully, you did the earlier trainings, but it is good to keep that information fresh in your head.

Let’s make CES Cybersafe!
