Description of Assignment |
As the Research and Innovation Department of Roessingh Centre for Rehabilitation, Roessingh Research and Development (RRD) conducts scientific research into innovative healthcare technology with a focus on the end-user. For RRD, co-creation with end-users and stakeholders is essential to ensure that the innovation meets users’ needs and fits within the healthcare context. This is to ensure that the technology is actually used to its full potential and contributes to sustainable healthcare. In various reviews the potential of telerehabilitation to increase the quality and accessibility of care and to decrease the cost of care is emphasized. Despite this potential, the widespread implementation of telerehabilitation tools to support patients during their rehabilitation process is low. Besides various factors it is known that tools accepted by end-users are more likely to be successful. After various pilots Roessingh Centre of Rehabilitation started with the large-scale implementation of a telerehabilitation portal (www.telerevalidatie.nl). This digital tool supports patients during their medical rehabilitation process and offers them remotely accessible information, exercises and questionnaires, and a direct messaging service with their healthcare professionals. For sustainable implementation it is important to know the barriers and facilitators for long term use of this tool. We are currently evaluating the portal among patients, based on the Sextuple Aim. The perspective of healthcare professionals is still missing. This assignment is to identify, based on current literature, the barriers and facilitators healthcare professionals experience with telerehabilitation, including existing questionnaires on their attitudes towards telerehabilitation or eHealth. Next, this needs to be translated into a framework and a first questionnaire for healthcare professionals, covering all dimensions of the Sextuple Aim. This assignment is suitable for both Dutch and non-Dutch students and reimbursement is in line with CAO Ziekenhuis. |
