Women’s Health: How to educate students and others about women’s health topics?

Organisation: Department of Psychology, Health & Technology, University of Twente in collaboration with teachers from other faculties

Location: UT

Period : November 2026 – February 2027

Brief description of the assignment

Although recognition is growing of sex and gender as important determinants of health, women's health is still under-represented in research, medical and psychological innovation. This has led to uneven standards of healthcare which has resulted in inequity, poorer care, and unmet health needs in women. In the minor module “Technology for Women’s Health in a life span perspective”, students get sensibilized to approach women’s health needs across the life cycle, and learn how this can improve standards of care with a focus on technology development and gender-sensitive design, in an interdisciplinary education environment.

It is worldwide the first university minor about these topics. We are very proud of the minor. For the next edition (November – February) all places are filled and we have already a waiting list.

For more information, please consult the website Minor Technology for Women's Health a Lifespan Perspective

The upcoming edition is the third edition and education must be updated and developed further.

We can discuss the focus of your internship directed to health psychology & technology education. Roughly these are the main topics to think about:

1.      Further development of given study units by for example check options for even more connection within and between the study units
2.      Support and improve methods for assessment and student evaluation
3.      Since the minor is very popular you explore options for other educational formats to teach the  minor content and develop ideas in which educational formats we can reach other groups of interested students and professionals in the future. The minor is now open for Bachelor students.

During your internship you will be able to participate in all parts of minor, will get the opportunity to assist teaching or teach small parts yourself if this matches your learning goals for your internship.

Dutch language proficiency is NOT required for this internship assignment.
