Your last chance to visit the “This is Not a Camera!” exhibit at Tankstation is 24 April. For those who have already visited (and newcomers), we are hosting a closing workshop with faculty members from the University of Twente Philosophy Section. In this workshop we will go further in depth about the possible ethical considerations of this technology and how WIFI sensing might (re)shape the human condition. Participants will reflect on how their lives will change as WIFI monitoring services become more commonplace in our daily lives. These observations will help design regulations and specifications that ensure ethical development of WIFI monitoring products and services.
“This is Not a Camera!” explains in easy-to-understand language (Dutch and English) how WIFI works, how it can be used for surveillance, what features are possible, and current innovations being explored. Vote on what you think might be creepy or cool instances of the technology and have a direct impact on research and design.
