Topic
The use of GenAI and AI-driven technologies is becoming increasingly common. It is now common practice to query an AI agent when faced with a problem-solving scenario, especially when doubtful or uncertain about how to proceed. While the goal of such queries could be manifold, what remains common across various use cases is the fact that there is always an answer provided by the AI tool. Learners need to process this information, determine its quality, make use of it (completely or partially), and navigate through the uncertainty. Uncertainty is defined as the experience of doubt, hesitation, or confusion faced by learners in complex ill-structured problem-solving scenarios. Such experiences can occur in various contexts including class projects and design challenges. This project will focus on understanding how learners use GenAI in navigating uncertainty and what role does GenAI play in the way uncertainty is managed.
Method
The method will primarily rely on questionnaires and interviews. The age group of learners can vary depending on availability. The analysis will follow a mixed-method approach combining quantitative and qualitative methods.
