General information
Prof. Dr. Roland M. Müller is since 2010 Full Professor at the Berlin School of Economics and Law. He is also Visiting Professor at the University of Twente and the Hasso-Plattner Institute (HPI), School of Design Thinking.
From 2006 to 2010, he was Assistant Professor of Knowledge Management and Information Services at the University of Twente. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Information Systems, Free University Berlin, in 2005. His dissertation on "Knowledge Sharing and Trading on Electronic Marketplaces" was honored "with distinction" by the German Computer Society (GI). His research was sponsored by a doctoral fellowship awarded by the German Research Foundation as part of the graduate school on "Distributed Information Systems" in Berlin. Thereafter, he worked as a Senior Researcher at the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg, in the EU Project PARMENIDES ("Ontology Driven Temporal Text Mining on Organizational Data for Extracting Temporal Valid Knowledge").
Prior to his doctoral research he worked as an IT Consultant in San Francisco, USA in the field of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing. He holds an MSc in Economics (with honors, top 1% of graduating class) from the Free University Berlin. He taught various Information Systems courses at the Free University Berlin, HHL Leipzig and the University of Magdeburg.
Dr. Müller has consulted global companies like Daimler, Siemens, Thales and Unilever, as well as varied small and medium-sized companies and government organizations. He is in the advisory board of Distimo, a mobile app store analytics company. Dr. Müller is the creator of TheoryMaps, a repository of causal theories. He was also the co-founder and lead architect of SPEECHA, a podcast community site that used advanced techniques like geo tagging of audio and video content, a sophisticated recommendation engine and social network features to let users find the podcasts they like.
