“Tackling Urban Challenges. How do Urban Experimentation Spaces develop learning communities?”

The event takes place hybrid, in Connect-U, Enschede, The Netherlands) on 14th of May, 14.30-17.00.

The event will present the results and insights of the first year and a half of the ULALABS: University Lab of Labs for Transformative Societal Innovation project, and provide a setting for focused discussions where partners and stakeholders exchange experiences about how Living Labs and other urban experimentation spaces articulate learning communities within their regional ecosystems in order to tackle urban challenges. It also constitutes a networking and exchange opportunity for stakeholders and practitioners from different regions to learn from each other and get an update on the project´s results and upcoming steps.

The event will be centred around a thematic roundtable discussion with stakeholders from the four partner regions like the UAB Open Labs, Ajuntament Cerdanyola Del Vallès (Spain), Nordic Edge, Stavanger kommune (Norway), Ebbepark (Sweden) and ChallengeLAB Twente (Netherlands).

The second multiplier event is organised within the framework of the Erasmus + project ULALABS: University Lab of Labs for Transformative Societal Innovation (Project ref. 023-1-ES01-KA220-HED-000157489). The project brings together researchers from the University of Twente, who hosts the project partners from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, University of Stavanger, and Linköping University, along with regional stakeholders from partner regions.

The four universities are members of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities- ECIU and work together within ULALABS: University Lab of Labs for Transformative Societal Innovation project to create a theoretical and practical framework for a distributed living lab (Lab of Labs) to tackle urban challenges and mitigate climate change. Running until the end of 2026 under the Erasmus Plus Programme, ULALABS seeks to foster transformative innovation policies through collaborative learning communities and the creation of a shared Agenda.
