PROGRAMME REQUIREMENTS:
The master’s programme is a two-year programme. The master’s programme is divided into three specializations, MOR, MAGNUS and MDS. MDS has two tracks, the second one being the track AI4Health. Each student chooses one specialization/track and – within that specialization/track – a course programme. The curriculum consists of the following elements and contains a minimum of 120 EC.
First year
- Continuous Optimization (6 EC)
- Scientific Computing (6 EC)
- Pioneers of Applied Mathematics (5 EC)
- Specialization courses:
- MOR: a minimum of three courses out of a list of eight
- MAGNUS: three core courses are mandatory
- MDS: a minimum of four courses out of a list of eight
- MDS track AI4Health: five courses are mandatory, three plus choosing two out of five
- Electives so that the total number of EC’s of courses in the first year adds up to at least 60
- At least one of the courses in the course package needs to be a Mastermath course. These are national courses, jointly offered by the departments of mathematics of the Dutch universities. Generally, Mastermath courses are offered in Utrecht or Amsterdam, sometimes in Nijmegen. You follow Mastermath courses together with mathematics students from other Dutch universities. Moreover, Mastermath enables you to follow specialist courses that are not offered at the UT. To be able to enroll in Mastermath courses, you first need to create an account. Then, you can enroll in courses, after which locations et cetera will show. The examination rules and prerequisites are also posted on the Mastermath website.
