Twente Alumni Lecture Rotterdam

Lecture by: David Fernandez Rivas
Assistant Professor Mesoscale Chemical Systems group

No need for needles

How do you inject medicines into the body of people (e.g. fighting Diabetes) in a pain-free way? And how to make those irritating vaccinations for children more fun? David Fernandez Rivas strives to solve this riddle by developing a laser-generated bubble that enters the body in a pain-free way. Also, the additional benefits of this method are less skin damage and a smaller impact on the environment.

But how do you develop such a method? And what are the possibilities for this method in the future? In his lecture, David Fernandez Rivas will address these questions – and many more.

Twente Alumni Lectures
This lecture is part of the Twente Alumni Lectures series, in which eight researchers visit eight Dutch cities. The researchers will be visiting Rotterdam, Utrecht, Amsterdam, Groningen, Zwolle, Deventer, Nijmegen and Eindhoven. All speakers strive to find solutions for the biggest global challenges in their research fields; whether it concerns new ways to store energy, needless injections, Alzheimer’s disease, reducing water scarcity, DDoS attacks or robots as our colleagues. By inspiring each other as one UT community, we will come closer to finding a solution. So join!
