About us

The FEBIS section within the HBE department aims to advance knowledge and develop solutions that bolster both strategic and operational resilience in societal and organisational processes. Our focus lies on the financial and digital lifelines of modern society: capital flows, information infrastructures and digital ecosystems. Our research and education are closely linked in achieving this mission. We create analytical models, decision-support tools, enterprise architectures, AI-driven systems and cybersecurity management frameworks to improve resilience across financial and IT infrastructures. This research is integrated into teaching across programmes like BIT, IEM, (I)BA, PLD and CS, where students tackle real-world challenges involving risk analytics, digital strategy and business-IT alignment. Through thesis projects, industry collaborations and interdisciplinary coursework, students learn to design and manage resilient financial and digital systems/products/processes that support organisational performance and societal stability.
Our impact aligns closely with the four strategic domains defined at the university level. We support responsible investment and long-term economic adaptation through sustainable finance management and product design. We develop serious gaming environments and data-driven decision-support systems to improve patient engagement and facilitate evidence-based healthcare decision-making. Our work on securing digital infrastructures, cybersecurity governance and resilience modelling safeguards essential socio-technical systems against disruption. For digital ecosystems, we improve supply chain transparency, digital sovereignty and transition strategies. We remain a thought leader in business-IT alignment by developing cutting-edge enterprise architecture solutions for organisations.
