NWO research programmes
by Helga Varwijk
On Thursday 13 March from 12.00 till 13.30 hrs.
in Hotel de Broeierd (diningroom 3), Hengelosestraat 725
A crucial aspect for a successful scientific career is the acquisition of projects. Therefore it is highly important to know where to find the programmes for funding research. In this context, the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) promotes scientific research at Dutch universities and institutes through nearly 120 different research programmes and grants. In this talk Helga Varwijk introduces some of the NWO programmes with a special focus on furthering women's research careers. The main topics will be the well-known 'Vernieuwingsimpuls' (Innovational Research Incentives Scheme) and Rubicon which is a programme for short postdoc research in an international context.
Short CV: Ms Drs. Helga Varwijk works at NWO at the department Policy Development. At this department various subsidy programmes are coordinated, such as Vernieuwingsimpuls (Innovational Research Incentives Scheme) and Rubicon. She will give some information on these programmes in her presentation. She has an MA degree in linguistics and worked for 9 years at STW (Dutch Technology Foundation).

FFNT aims to support the professional development of women in academia and to provide a network for sharing and exchanging experience. It develops workshops and lectures specially for women and also organises activities aimed at women jointly with PA&O (whose activities are otherwise gender neutral).
