Earth Structure and Dynamics

How can greater knowledge of our planet help us build a better future? The Earth is constantly in motion — from earthquakes and volcanoes to ocean currents that influence our climate.

By gaining a better understanding of these processes, we can make more effective use of both the Earth’s surface and its interior. This enables us to predict natural disasters more accurately and reduce their impact. In addition, understanding the Earth’s structure helps us use resources such as minerals and groundwater more sustainably. At UT FieldLab, we develop advanced techniques to better understand the Earth and uncover the secrets of its interior. We study natural processes and their impact on our living environment. Our solutions focus on predicting natural hazards and using resources responsibly.
